Steps from an idea to the finished pattern

For amigurumi patterns

Everything starts with an idea…

Step 1. Idea: you can get inspiration from anywhere: from nature, from everyday life, magazines or internet. Do not copy other designers idea!

Step 2. Write or sketch your ideas: keep a notebook for writing down or sketching all your idea. When you don't have inspiration for a new project, you can choose one from your notebook or combine them together.

Step 3. Break it down into pieces: draw your idea and break down into simple pieces shapes like: circles, ovals, cones..

Step 4: Choose your project size: decide what size the finished project will be and choose your yarn and hook accordingly.

Step 5: Choose your materials: choose yarn type, yarn color, crochet hook or other supplies (safety eyes, stitch marker, stuffing materials, scissor) for your crochet project.

Step 6: Start crocheting the individual shapes: start to crochet the individual piece till you are satisfied with it.

Step 7: Take notes: write down all the step, instruction, detail, hook size, yarn type it will come in handy later.

Step 8: Turn the draft into a pattern format: write the draft pattern into a pattern format with all materials, tools and instructions. Use the correct terminology and formatting!

Step 9: Crochet a final version and take pictures or make a video: follow your written pattern and correct the errors you find. At this step take pictures or make a video that you feel will help to understand the pattern better.

Step 10: Get testers for you pattern: ask a friend or post a Tester call to check once again you pattern.

Step 11: Publish your pattern: after the test you can finally publish your pattern. Make sure you post the great news on the social media!

Congratulations!
